are you boosted ?, the only thing I can think of that would cause that would be detonation. If that's the case the internal parts could be in bad shape. Interested to see if it starts up and runs like normal once you get it going.

Judging from the questions you are asking (starting with the post title), you should trailor your car to a good mechanic. This will limit your expenses.

This isn't uncommon:

Spark plugs work themselves loose and the flames come up the spark plug well toasting the coil pack.

If you're lucky, the engine is okay.

I stuck a magnet inside the cylinder and found nothing so the plug tip that broke off, yes the tip of the plug broke off into my cylinder, is gone. I put in a new plug but it only threads in about half that of the others. It goes in mighty tight, but the half threading scares me a little. A mechanic friend of mine told me to tap the threads with the same size tap (same size as the plugs). My questions is this: Do the threads for the spark plug go to the edge of the head? Basically, if I use the thread tapper is it ok to go all the way through? I've had to use a tap and die set on some body work before but never dealing with the motor.

P.S. Found a coil pack from majestic honda for only $107 shipped

Last week we had a compressor tester get stuck in the head. Took two days of crazy happenings to get it out.

Don't give up, it took us 2 days but we didn't let the tester kick our ass

the coilpack looks very discoloured. Is this common for the mileage? any idea if the spark plugs were ever changed?

This happens from loose plugs. A properly tightened plug will not come loose.

Well the coil pack disappeared... I got to the plug and it tugged right out. I put in a new plug and the threads on the head are still ok some how. It screwed in like normal.

Sound a bit like going from bad to worse......

As far as I know the spark plug threads are trough & through.

I would look into having a "Time sert" installed as you will most likely find that the bottom half of the thread in the head got melted into the spark plug, and was dragged through the top half of the thread as the plug backed out.

There is a trick with the time serts. Put the piston at BDC on the firing stroke, fill the cylinder with shaving cream ( use a tube), install the time sert then turn the engine to TDC. Any swarf/debris from the installation will be pushed out by the shaving cream.
