Default What to grease when changing clutch?

Do I grease the fork that goes on the throwout bearing. I have a slight chatter noise when pressing gas pedal in slightly. It is not the clutch buzz b/c when I let off of the gas completely there is no rattle at all. If I need to grease the throwout bearing and fork can I just remove the slave cylinder and go through that hole to lube the fork? Thanks for any help.

The OEM lube is High temp Urea grease.

What parts need to be greased? or should I grease pretty much everything that isn't friction/clutch related i.e. input shaft throw out bearing flywheel bearing....

I'm not too sure about that grease.

I have just had to service a friends S who was complaining of a dead clutch.

Now I had changed the clutch fluid a couple of months ago, so I knew it wasn't that.

Had a look at the clutch fork and the high temp grease had been used.

Turns out it doesn't like the cold weather and had turned into a very sticky substance - high viscosity and was causing the clutch fork to stick.

I used some wd-40 to plaster the fork hinge and hinge socket, then went about removing the old grease.

I then used copper grease (which I have never had issues with), fitted it back in - BAM - clutch like new!

ChefJ -

Take off the slave cylinder and you will see the clutch fork sicking out.

Grab hold of the fork and give it a good pull - it will pop out, but you won't be able to get it out of the gearbox casing.

If you shine a light in there, you will see that the fork is a basic hinge/socket design.

Simply grease the hinge (But don't go bonkers with grease - a thumbnail sized blob will be ample. You may have to use a screwdriver/coathanger to get the grease on. If you have long fingers, you could use your finger.

That is a basic pic of the clutch fork. The bit in red is cylindrical and is the hinge. If you greae that, you are done

Thanks for the advice. I actually have the tranny lying on the floor in the garage as I am reassembling after a clutch change. I live down in GA where it is currently cold as f*^& but termperatures are generally quite mild to very hott in the summer. I just want to make sure I grease the necessary things up before I start putting everything back together.

Sorry if I sounded a bit patronising then - just wanted to be complete with the instruction

I'll have to ask you for advice for getting the top bolts off on the Gearbox when I come to my clutch change

Grease the outside groove of the throwout bearing too.
