Like added complexity won't introduce more problems? They'll be different, fer sure, but...

So do the AP2 CF Synchros fit AP1 trannys? Or no? I've searched but I couldn't find a definitive answer.

In all of my previous cars i have always skipped gears, cuz generally on the street i accerlate fast and then as soon as im a littl over the speed limit i throw it in 5th or 6th to just cruise at that speed. And have never once had any tranny problems. But that was on one integra and 2 preludes. Aparently it is a problem on the S and now im scared, its going to be hard to get out of the habit.

it would apply to both ap1 and ap2...very little difference besides minor gear ratio's between the two trannies...and carbon synchro's.

just break the habit.

[QUOTE=l8brakr,Sep 27 2004, 10:02 AM]I thought in Ben's post above Honda made him cover labor costs because they claimed the transmission had to be abused to cause the damage.

I know I'm bring this topic up out of the grave, but I've recently started having a problem with my car. I got it used about a month ago and I'm sure the previous owner skipped gears. 5th is very rough sometimes and hard to select. Can I fix this problem on my own? I'm a college student and don't have the money to throw at fixing this. Any advice would be appreciated. Also, I'm in Kansas city, and any offer to help would be appreciated.

If you have a bad synchro or bent shift fork, then there's not much you can do other than baby it or fix it. Have you tried changing the tranny oil? I found that GM Synchromesh Friction Modified (not regular GM Synchromesh) made the tranny MUCH better.
