Take off the drive belt and turn the car on. If the noise goes away then it's one pulleys or tensioner that's gone bad. If the noise doesn't go away then you got an internal problem.

I don't think you can (or should) run the car without the serpentine belt for very long.
Also, doesn't the belt run the other pulleys? So only the one would spin without the belt making you not able to check the others?

Maybe try using a mechanical stethoscope on each pulley first (with the belt on). I think there's one that may fail more often than others (alternator pulley?)

I'm not super knowledgeable on this kind of stuff, just trying to help.

He only has to run the engine for 5-10 secs just to varify the noise. No harm will be done.

doesn't sound like typical TCT. I'd say that sounds more like one of those pulleys on the front of the engine from your video.

good luck

im thinking it might be the belt tensioner? the sound comes right from pulley/tensioner, is there any way to test it before I replace it? running the engine without the belt sounds a bit sketchy?

Sounds like the AC compressor bearing, I've heard it before. Definitely no TCT noise there.

Take the belt off and spin it by hand.
