Default What is this part?

First post here. I have a WCM Ultralite (Lotus 7 kit car) with a F20 engine and today I noticed it's leaking oil out of what seems to be an oil pressure sensor? I've looked up S2000 Oil pressure sensor but none of the pictures I see look like this part. Could this have been modified or am I looking for the wrong part?

Looks like an aftermarket oil pressure switch.

Yes that is not a stock part.
I recommend you remove it and have it mounted remotely with a hose in between.
Mounting it directly like that will most likely have the small fitting crack and snap off, looks like you got lucky and caught it early now though

I noticed the leak is actually from where the wire is connected to it. I tightened the wire's nut, we'll see if that fixes it.

Love the WCM Ultralite! Considered one when I bought my S2000 in 2003. Recently aquired an MNR Vortx with a Yamaha R1 engine.

Wow I think I remember seeing yours on ebay few months ago? I actually bought a bike engined Locost off ebay around the same time which you might recognize. It has a GSXR1000 engine putting down 168whp. Have you dyno'ed yours? What is your top speed? Mine is about 110 which gets annoying on the highway and long straight tracks. That's one advantage the Ultralite has, it has a way higher top speed. And it has a reverse gear with the other one doesn't. I'm trying to decide which one to keep and which one to sell.

That was mine on ebay. I picked it up 1st week of July. The seller was only 40 minutes from me. Having been through the New York state's title inspection was a bonus.

I have not dyno'ed it. The R1 motor is 170-180hp before drive train losses. The gearing is set up to yield ~10 mph for every 1K rpm, so it should top out about 130 pending aero drag. I've gotten it to 100 pretty easily, haven't explored beyond that yet. Mine has a clunky homemade reverse. I find it easier to push it than to use reverse.

Yeah I still haven't been able to get mine registered. State inspection was a breeze but stuck with emissions testing. BTW what rear diff do you have? Mine is out of a Miata(3.9). That's why the low top speed.

I lucked out. New York does not require emissions on motorcycles. Because it is motorcycle powered, it is emissions exempt. The diff is a 3.38:1 from Ford Sierra.

FYI, opinion here is its best to use the oem Honda oil filter. Its made for 9k rpm flow, and also has a metal crush washer to make sure it doesn't spin loose under all that oil pressure.

Be sure to follow tightening instructions on the filter. An addional 7/8 of a turn after gasket makes contact.
