Default What performance enhancement is best....?

I am new to this forum so excuse me if this questions has been asked before.

I would like some opinions on what is the best performance enhancement for an S2000. Keep reliability in-mind and affordable. Would it be nitrous, turbo, supercharger, or whatever. I am looking to increase the performance of my S2000 and thus far I am favoring a supercharger, but I am still open to other ideas. Any thoughts........?

SC has most bang for the buck. Though read up on the forum as to what happens when you upgrade your HP by 50%.

Things start to slip/break! So in the long run you spend even more $$$. If you do go SC or Turbo be aware that the engine might be some what bullet proof the rest of the car is not.

Search the boards for your info. To many peoples opinions out there. Best to come to your own decisions as to where you want to take the car.

A class on how to drive better(aka faster) might be all you really need. Auto-x and track time really show you what the car can do. And will supprise you if your out there with other NON-S2000 cars.

Depends what you want to spend money on:

If it's corner performance, I'd say invest into brake pads or suspension.

If it's acceleration from a stop, I'd suggest a gear set.

If it's midrange, driveable power, then go for Mugen header and/or Mugen ECU.

If it's year-round driving performance, go for a hardtop.

BTW, just noticed that you're in LITH, IL....I'm a short rock throw from you...in Algonquin...just south of Buffalo Wild Wings, Meijer, etc.

Try to come out to the next gathering...we've had a couple in the Algonquin area.

Pinky, that for the response. Have U done any mod's?

Luder94

I have done some research and I am looking for raw power. Mainly midrange and acceleration. I have spoke with the guys at King Motorsports (Mugen) and they have a few ideas but Mugen stuff is $$$$.

What outing R U referring to?

Once I get my car back from the bodyshop, I'll give you ride in mine...as of now, I have the headers, an ECU (but is temporary since I have to give it back to its rightful owner), thermostat, fan switch, and high pressure radiator cap.

As far as suspension goes, I have a full race coilovers and a beefier anti-roll bar up front.

To finish it off, I have some lighter 17" wheels, with S02 rubber.

Check for pictures under the "Photo gallery" forum...look for a thread called "Mugenized picture" thread. I've posted a few pictures of my car, maybe you've seen me driving around.

You may want to talk to member hecash....he's a member that lives in St. Charles and has gone through the full life cycle of getting a supercharger to work as well as it does on his car...close to 2 years of tinkering and work to get the performance he's desired.

From re-reading this thread, a supercharger is what it sounds like you're looking for.

We don't have a set outing established, the next one being possibly an Oil Banjo bolt update "party", but the bolts haven't materialized yet. If you're interested, we can try to put something together a small gathering for wings over at Buffalo Wild Wings.

Be prepared to spend a ton of money!!!
Honda has wrung much (certainly not all) of the potential out of this car and it's limited production means that all aftermarket parts are premium priced.
Check out Hams2000's posts on his car and what he's done to it. He got almost 230 rwhp w/o a supercharger or a turbo.

Mods I have planned for my new '03 in spring are as follows:
X brace, P-flow TB(got already does next to nothing on NA but hell I got it), K&N intake(or some variation from a board member on it), Toda cams(or spoon which ever makes more power where I want it), Test pipe(with mod to keep the CEL away). That is it as far as POWER goes. I would do the Mugen ECU and Headers (headers were nice but think Cams will do more) but its just a butt load of cash to do Cams/ECU and Headers.

A VAF-C might be in my future if I think it could use it but I am not sure. Its the dyno time tuning and the install that I could care less to do. Though I am a stereo/alarm installer I would rather not..........though might.

Can you tell I am an NA boy? Though I have not drove but did get a ride in a Vortech SC'ed S. It will be a monster come spring. 300+ easily to the rear.
