Default Whats Best Header and Exhaust Combination.........

I've been getting alot of mixed opinions on exhausts for my s2k which is normal considering there's so many of them. But does anyone feel they know what header and exhaust combo works best... Thanks

Mugen Header, Mugen Exhaust with hi-flow cat seems to work well on my car. Not sure if it is the best but I am very happy with that combo. I have driven with the following combos Stock header, mugen exhaust, hi-flow cat; stock header, mugen exhaust, stock cat; mugen header, mugen exhaust and stock cat; mugen header, mugen exhaust and hi-flow cat; stock header, comptech exhaust, stock cat; stock header, comptech exhaust, hi-flow cat; stock header, stock exhaust and hi-flow cat; and all stock. Midrange is much nicer with mugen header/exhaust and hi-flow cat than it is with any other combination. Just my observations.

To add to what SS said, I think this board's consensus is that no dual-exhaust has been shown to make power (2-3hp max, i.e. within the error range of a dyno). However, large-bore single-exhaust designs seem to make a bit (3-8hp), and additionally can save quite a bit of weight over the stock exhaust, which weighs some 50 lbs. The lightest all-Ti single-pipe exhausts are just 8-10 lbs. Be prepared for a major increase in sound volume, though.

Among headers, both Spoon and Mugen have been shown to make power; the Spoon is more top-end power, while the Mugen adds more in the mid-range.

HTH.

what do you guys think about a Mugen header/Amuse R1 Dual exhaust setup? will the mid-range nature of the header and the top end nature of the exhaust system somehow clash and negate gains? what if you throw in an AEM intake?

TIA
