Default What's the difference between these two OEM air filters?

As the title says, I am a bit confused as to the difference between these two parts:

http://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Honda-...000+air+filter

http://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Honda-...=17220-PZX-003

Is one designed for an AP1 and the other AP2? I have an 06+, fwiw. If anybody could shed some light on this matter, I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

According to the Majestic Honda parts diagrams, the PZX filter is for 06-09, PCX filter is for 00-05. Have no idea if there's actually any functional difference or if they just changed the part number.

First one is for an AP2.

At the top of the air filters there is a plastic section that stick out which is used to connect to the intake box. The pattern of the connection is different depending on the year/model, one is round and the other is a +. Too lazy to lookup which year/model has which one but looking at your intake box will tell you which type you have.

Thanks for your guys' response but there seems to be some conflicting information as to which filter is meant for each model. To make matters even more confusing, I checked my air filter and it has the cross section that sticks out the top, but color of the filter is green. I can't tell the shape of the plastic section of 17220-PCX-003 (first link) from the pictures. The 17220-PZX-003 clearly has the cross plastic section, but appears to be more of a blue color than green, unless it's just lighting.

Green filter with round mounting pin is for 00-05.

Blue filter with cross mounting pin is for 06-09.

No confusion for me! Why you?

If I click on the first link there's a notation "This does NOT fit your 2006 Honda S2000."

If I click on the second the notation states "This fits your 2006 Honda S2000."

Looks like P/N 17220-PZX-505 replaces 17220-PZX-003 for the ‘06-‘09 models according to Majestic Honda and Honda Parts Now sites. Anyone know if anything has changed between the two engine air filters? Perhaps it’s just a number change due to a new manufacturing site… like the oil filter P/N changes.

If P/N 17220-PZX-505 supersedes 17220-PZX-003 ordering the old version should get you the newer item if none of the old remain in stock. That's how it worked with the oil filters a couple of years ago when I ordered the old part number and received the new one. Haven't seen the new part but the old parts have different shapes at the nose end.
