Unhappy Whats the service interval on a PCX filter?

I'm in a bit of a situation here. I'm switching to Amsoil from M1 tomorrow and don't have another PCX filter to put on it. Normally I'd just wait to order one or was in a town with a dealership but I'm in a rush. I'll be putting a bunch of miles on the car this week and my maintenance light has been on for 500-1000 miles and I want to change it before I rack up another 1-1.5k. Should I remove, drain, and reinstall the current PCX filter or try to find a parts store that carries Purolator filters and get a Pure1? ....Or just keep the M1 in it until I get the right filter (not using M1 EP).

Get a Pure One or Napa Gold filter. Don't reuse the old filter.

The owner's manual recommends that you change the oil filter every other oil change. And since the PCX filter is an excellent filter, it is more than capable of doing its job for another OCI.

However I also believe that going another 1000 or 1500 miles won't do any harm if you want to wait that long to change your oil. You're using Mobil 1 which will easily last much longer than a conventional oil, assuming that your driving habits include some long drives. But if you make a lot of short trips and few highway miles, then you should change your oil soon.

I recently went almost 11,000 miles on Mobil 1 on my Toyota Highlander, and the Used Oil Analysis showed that I had plenty of life left in the oil. It still had a TBN of 2.4. The service engine light on the AP1 S2000 is very conservative. The Oil Change Intervals on my '03 S2000 are several times longer than yours (with Amsoil SSO) and the oil analyses show that it's holding up very well.

Do USDM AP1's have a service/maintenance light? answer: yes they do
As in: oil life monitor? answer: no, just a milage monitor

no need for that

Oh well...
1500 miles / week = 300 miles / day
Just use the oil that's in there.
If the OP decides to do so, do take some oil with you as running for longer at operating temp will burn off the fuel & water in the oil so the level will drop.
IOW: long drives rejuvenates oil

OEM filter is practically the best you can get, unless you order the JDM OEM Filter.... yes they are actually 2 different filters. Not sure why, the the JPs always keep the best shit for themselves, either it an oil filter or the cure for cancer.

the filter will hold up fine, but you will be mixing some old dirty oil in the filter with fresh new oil. You will find the new oil looks dirty very early into the interval after the change. I say keep the M1 in the car until the next available opportunity to change the new filter and oil together, M1 is plenty capable of handling the extra mileage with ease.

I recall someone importing them, but IIRC, the USDM made version was the same design, just made here vs. there.

I can tell you from experience that it's not going to matter. You're not going to extend the life of your motor. You'd be better served switching out your oil jet bolts if you have a 00-01 or early 02 and ALWAYS running at the full mark or a half quart over. Use the PCX filter, Wix or Napa gold (or Bosch/Mobil 1/K&N) and you'll be fine.

i'd just keep the filter in there and change it when you get your hands on another pcx filter.

i usually change my filter once in between oil changes. i go extended intervals between oil changes, so i change my filter more often than my oil.
