When ever i shift at high RPMS... like 8900 my second gear grinds. This is very disturbing seeing as i'm trying to build a strong car. I'm already gettting a new rear, and never suspected i'd need to beef up my transmission as well. Any way i can do so, or is there something wrong??? I plan on having a custom turbo done and i want to be sure ALL parts of my car can handle the power, and maybe a little well earned abuse. Any advice would more than be appreciated. O

 

I heard a lot of the same problems with other S2000z. It does the same for mine too. I'm not sure of the cause but it occures. I don't think it means the tranny is gonna be dead though. I've seen people get new 2nd gear synch. But the recommendation that I got from most places was that leave it alone and try not to shift really fast into 2nd for I think the synch. needs time to catch up.

I had the same problem....I took it to Honda dealership and they gave me a new 2nd gear under warranty. Doesnt grind anymore. I heard other people put new transmission fluid and it solved the problem.

 

Repalced mine with a Spoon.

 

Try Redline MT-90. It is a common problem for many S2000s.

 

Howz the spoon gear feel? Any difference in ratio?

I had my TSB done on my 2001 at 8K miles. Grind came back at around 15K miles.
