Default Wheel bearing direction which side?

Hi,

I just bought 4 Timken wheel bearings to replace all 4 corners. Can someone confirm that the side with the black ring faces the car for the ABS to function correctly?

Cheers!

Use a magnet. The side that is conductive goes towards the inside.

Black seal faces outward.

Silver metal seal faces inward.

Hi all,

Sorry to bring this back. I pressed 3 of the 4 bearings in. However, the 4th bearing has identical sides. There is no rubber seal on one side. I tried using a magnet to detect which side was which, but both were magnetic. Is there a proper way to figure this out or should I assume the bearing was manufactured incorrectly and get a new one? I've never seen one like this.

Mind you, I ordered 4 Timken 510050 wheel bearings. 3 of the 4 are stamped made in the USA, the fourth is made in Korea.

If you take a small paper clip and place it on the bearing one side will draw the paper clip to it. The other will not.

The bearing itself has a magnetic side.

Also I did some checking the Timken number I come up with is 510039 not 510050.

P/N 510050 is the right P/N for my '06.
Amazon says 510039 in not for a '06 don't know about other years.

Well I do not know about Amazon.

But I do know if someone walked up to my station at NAPA I would sell them a SKF FW145 which crosses to a Timken 510039.

There are no S2000 applications for a 510050 which is a SKF FW45

Just early 2000s Acura TL's Cl's and Honda Accords

RockAuto also says 510050 for a Timken bearing
https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...l+bearing,1672

RockAuto also has a SKF bearing for the S with the FW145 p/n, you can check the SKF p/n page
SKF Online Parts Catalog

And Amazon still says the 510039 does not fit my '06 S
Amazon Amazon
