I am having what feels like a light shuddering and instability when accelerating specifically when out of a tight LEFT hand turn. It has a slight "bounce" maybe 2 or 3 times when leaving the turn. Right hand turns feel just fine, with very natural feeling grip and stability into predictable oversteer. Taking left hand corners without any accelerating after the apex also feels just fine. When making the turn I can not tell which direction it is coming from on the car, either front or back, left or right, but I am thinking it is the passenger rear suspension due to the fact that it is during left turns only, and would load up the passenger-side suspension, and likely the rear due to the fact it happens during acceleration. Does not change when VSA is off.
A little backstory, I first felt this when I got a new set of tires, and alignment was just done (but I felt this both pre-alignment and post-alignment). Diff fluid changed with Amsoil 75W90, passenger side has had wheel bearing changed within last 3 years, so I'm thinking it couldn't be that. Tires are non directional, and swapping all left tires with right tires had no effect. I am thinking this is due to the higher level of grip making me feel more from the suspension that I could not feel when I was driving on my old, bald Ventus V12s.
I would appreciate any advice here, but I am now thinking it might be a blown shock on the passenger side rear. Does anyone have any experience with a similar situation? Any advice would be appreciated, thank you.
I had the opposite, of this driver side rear dampener did the same, so making right turns it would shimmy, as well over expansion gaps the dampener started to "knock" replacing rear dampeners(did them both so they matched) worked a charm.
Thank you everyone for your input.. I am on stock dampers with 70k miles. Luckily, I found a used replacement for cheap with similar miles that is now on it's way to me, so I hope that solves the issue. Will report back everyone!
Well I decided to take both of the rear struts apart, and this is what I found from the DRIVER side, which would be the inside wheel when making the lefthand turns. Not what I was expecting, but definitely seems to be a problem! Gonna have to order a used rear strut from this side as well now.
Only when I get the new struts and install will I know for sure... but this definitely feels good to see something obviously wrong I was a bit surprised when I took off my passenger side strut (which I suspected to be blown) and found it to look and feel totally fine.
