Default Where is the MAS sensor?

My S is idling high, it normally idles 800-900 rpm but lately has been 1100-1300 and I can hear the engine 'pulsing' slightly as it's just not in the right range.

I'm going to do a few things this weekend, change out air intake filter, clean out the IAC valve, do the MAP whack with zip tie down...BUT

Someone suggested I also clean out the MAS... can't find it, don't know where to look... can anyone advise with link or pics / part number so I can look in the HELMS. Do we even have one?

Thanks!

Do you mean MAF sensor? If so the S2000 doesn't have one.

Yes, I typo'd, MAF sensor.

So can I presume the MAF sensor is the MAP sensor? Is there another component like the MAF that I should be looking at cleaning?

A MAF and MAP are different, but provide basically the same function. Our MAP is the square sensor on top of the throttle body.

For a high idle, I would listen for vacuum leaks, and possibly clean the IACV.

I found a great DIY to clean the IACV as part of this weekend work I plan on doing:

Didn't think to listen to vacuum leaks... can you provide some pointers or a DIY link if you know of one?

thnx

Just check around vacuum hoses. There isn't really a diy for that. If you changed anything lately check in that area and make sure you didn't forget to reattach a hose, or bumped something loose.

I read your op and noticed "pulsing". That's usually a leak. Check to see that there isn't a ton of carbon around the throttle plate. it may be getting jammed open slightly.

As I'm trying to save a few bucks and do the items I listed in my OP myself, I'm learning a few things along the way. Can you advise if the throttle plate is in the IACV? Or is this in another location that I need to dismantle...

thnx

Vacuum hoses is my thinking. Had an Accord that one disconnect on that caused the car to pulse/surge

So the pulsing is very minor, once the car is warmed up, it sits at about 1100 rpm and very gently I can hear it pulsing with it fluctuating to 1200-1300 rpm... after having the car for 55k and a lot of track days, I'm really in tune with the sounds it makes, I think someone else would not hear it, but it's like night and day to me.
