Default Who uses 0w30 or 0w40 ?

I want to switch to one of these oils for my Civic and S2k due to the fact that they are only available synthetic oils in local stores. Anyone else uses them here for the same reason ?

I use 0W-30,full syn oil in all my cars listed below.I want all the colder weather AND startup protection I can find. Some of my cars may sit for weeks without being started/driven.

It's just a little added protection...IMO.

0w30 is a good weight for anything that requires an anythingW30 oil.

Thats what I run in my S and in my civic which calls for 5w20, I run 0w20. IMHO the only real reason that they dont call for 0w30 or 0w20 is that its nearly impossible to make a fully conventional oil in that weight and people are dumb and want the cheapest oil change possible.

well i always used 5w30, 5w40, 5w20 etc....and just recently found out that all those synthetic oils are not really synthetic. and Castrol 0w30 and Mobil1 0w40 are the only true synthetic oils available in AutoZone.

time to switch

Your best bet then is a Amsoil distributor, they will ship the product to you.

Most dealers don't carry much stock...way too many diff products.Youcan order from any Amsoil dealer and have it UPS'ed to you usually in 2-4 days.

I run Amsoil 5w30 to get a bit better startup protection over 10w30, even at 70 degrees F you can benefit from quicker start-up protection. I didn't go the 0w30 due to the higher level of volatility burn-off so I compromised with 5w30, but their 0w30 is top notch. Plus the last formulation I seen of Amsoil 5w30 used some moly additive which their other weights dont all use.

I ran 5w40 last summer but I don't think I seen any greater protection running the extra weight, so this year I'm running 5w30. I'll have some used oil analysis info to compare the two by end of summer.

One of the best used oil analysis data I have ever seen was an S2K owner who ran Amsoil 0w30 SSO for a 35,000 mile oil change interval. The results were stellar, the owner is a member on these forums as well as BITOG.
