There's no trick to it. Each wiper arm is fastened to the wiper motor assembly underneath with a cap nut. I had mine removed last year to replace the windshield, and there was no problem.
They might be on pretty tight, so you might have to break it loose with a sharp tug on the wrench. You can also try flooding it with PB Blaster before trying.
