Default Wipers stuck on intermittent

We had a really bad storm go by recently, and now the wipers won't turn off and are stuck on intermittent when in the off position. Low, high, wash, and intermittent positions all work, but stay on intermittent when the switch is in the off position. It's getting really annoying!!!

Haven't dug into it to see where the controls are, but figure they're in the motor unit and not in the dash. Just about ready to order a new motor but wanted to see if anyone else has seen this before

Mine did this for a day as well, all of the sudden the next day they stopped. I would disconnect the battery for a while and that should hopefully fix it.

Hum... The Windows approach. I'll try it tonight, but suspect I'll be pulling the motor out soon. Thanks though!

did it get water into your steering column? perhaps the multi-function switch is corroded/corroding and when you think its on "off" its on "intermittent"?

as long as the wipers are moving...the motor is working...nothing wrong with the motor. you have an electric problem.

^not sure about the s, but on my neon when I had the same problem, what happened was there was a short somewhere, and there was power going to my WASHER motor. The washer motor somewhere had a input line to the wipers, and the wipers would kick on because it thought the washer was being activated.

The intermittent circuit fires a relay every time it should click. it's either the switch, wiring from the switch to the intermittent relay, or a bad relay. I don't know the circuit of the top of my head, but the helms should help track the problem down.

Thanks guys - The water didn't get into the steering column (I think) so I assumed the wiper motor had flooded out. But I'll start looking up the wiring diagram and tracing wires.
