How would you like to be remembered by future generations?
(other than you drove w/ a perpetual grin top down in the S)

It's not something I give any thought to but I think how we live our daily lives, i.e., all the small stuff, is what people form their opinions on. How I'd like to be remembered - me or my generation, it doesn't really matter, if we didn't walk the talk, it doesn't matter.

Never really thought about it.

I'll go for a visual. I'm dead and gone. My granddaughter is looking at old family pictures. She comes across a picture of herself with me. I hope she remembers me as a good grandma who was always there for her.

If other family members and friends remember me as a decent, kind person, then I did OK.

Let's make it at least a 30 year capsule, OK? Ten years is too short.

I think he was talking about 10,000 years. Hence 10K years.

It's really tough to imagine that since all of recorded history appears to have taken place in the last 5000 years. What is interesting is the fact that we are leaving copious records for the future, including this post! I doubt anyone would really be interested in a guy like me but hey, you never know.....

Maybe they will wonder what IAA Vice President of Banishment means.

That I truly cared about people, about their rights, about my children and grandchildren and that I deplore suffering of any kind by any living being. That I enjoyed art, music and saw the beauty in what many find ugly, that my heart was very large and broken by the evils and sadness in our wondrous world. I'd like to touch everyone I meet in a kind and positive way. I will never go down in history as one of the greats of my generation, but I'd like to be considered by all those folks I've touched, even in the virtual world, as one who showed caring and kindness.

BTW, Dex, I'm so happy you are once again posting. You've been missed.

I've been thinking about this for five minutes, and honestly I have no idea. I know I'll be remembered as someone with a good sense of humor and a smile for everyone. I'll probably also be remembered as someone who could blow a good note on a trumpet and could throw a good party.

That said, what I actually wanted as a younger man was to have an impact on some chosen field of science. That faded as reality set in. If I had gazillions of dollars, I'd give most of it away to sponsor the things that are important to me (and hope to be remembered as a patron of the arts)...

That I had the nerve to stand up for what I believe in.

So that's why you argue all the time.
