The +1's new job
Since this is a momentous occasion, it deserves a thread. The +1 has just accepted a new job that he is very excited about. It is a great opportunity to be working with some of the most brilliant minds in the country. Of which he is one, of course.
He certainly had some challenging and interesting jobs in the past, the main one being Captain of a nuclear submarine. But this one promises to be the best.
Although I enjoyed my career (and am still working part time), I can't say I was passionate about it. How about y'all? Do you (or did you) feel passionate about your work, or is (was) it just a means to an end?

Well Deb,
Congrats to the other half. I can appreciate the working with the B&B, One of my goals in life is always to be the dumbest guy in the room.
It keeps you on your toes and you have to work like hell just to keep up.
I'll say I can't do my job if I'm not passionate about it. Sure there are times that have really sucked.
I can also say I have had jobs where I was "just passing time" and going through the motions and I was miserable.

When I got paid to work it was fun to travel but the job wasn't fun. When I quit and stayed home to be a mom of two, a year and a half apart in age, I loved that job. I love volunteering now; helping people and helping cats.

Yeah, I guess I can tell now that it's a done deal. He will be a senior scientist/engineer at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. I don't know exactly what he will be doing, since much of it is classified. He will continue to support the Navy, among other things. They are happy to have him and he's happy to be going. Here's the website for the lab:
