Default 2002 AP1 seats

I just recently purchased this 2002 AP1 and the previous owner bought it in 2002 at the 2000 mile mark. Here is a picture of the seats which do not appear to be OEM. My

Here are the seats which don’t appear to be OEM
question is did the dealer have them reupholstered by a third party and if so why with only 2k on the vehicle? Currently the AP1 has 26k miles on it. Is there any way to confirm that they are the original seats? Did the seats come with any identifying serial numbers?

Many seats were stolen and wound up in Civics etc. in the earlier years. Maybe that's what happened to the originals. Did you get a Carfax at purchase?

There was a seat cover company who made seat covers for S2000's. That's what those look like. (Ken Miller (zippy) has a similar set in his AP-1)

The structure of the seats themselves look to me like factory ap1 seats.

I agree. I think those seats started their life as original ap1 seats.

Looks original with different covers on the center sections, at least. As to the why, people like to customize their cars, even when they are brand new. And many people thought the interior of the S2000 was a little boring. I love it because it is clean.
