We just had a 40th class reunion (a year late) and wow have people changed and yet they are the same.
They either looked the same or were unreconizable. Some of my best friends back then showed up and I couldn't recognize most of them.
One thing that has not changed was the beer and car building things we did in high school. Some of them have built some very nice rides. Part of the weekend activities was a Friday night local drive-in hot rod car show. Several of guys trailered in their toys to avoid the cops. The food was good and the beer plentyful. It was a whole lot of fun. There was a crowd around my ride most of the evening and the judges seemed impressed. I was (rather stupidly) supprised with the results of the competition.
I turns out the catagories were best Chevy, best Ford, best Mopar, best 20's, best 30's, best 40's, best 50's and best 60's.
I had the only foreign car there except for a blown chevy rat powered Anglia.
I guess it was my fault. My friend that organized it has asked me what I was driving several months ago and in playing with him I told him I was driving "a little black roadster." Since I had a 29 A roadster in high school he assumed I had another one. He couldn't visualize me in anything else.
Some things will never change.
