Absolutely A Dream Job
A while back I had posted a thread on a new gig (http://forums.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.p...threadid=150049)
The job seemed cool but was a backbreaker for a 55 year old and I was let go after 1 week.
But now after being mostly outa work for a yr and 1/2 I have hit the lotto of jobs.
I answered a small anonomyous internet ad over a month ago requesting the following skills;
Auto mechanic
Hi-tech work
Executive assistant work.
So, I got a reply asking for details about me and a pic.
I then get a thanks but no thanks as I lived a little too far to work out long term. (45minute commute)
I then get a call out of the blue early last week and am asked to come on down for an amazing interview culminating in some very positive feedback.
I just got off the phone and was told to expect an offer letter contingent on passing some backround checks which is a no problemo for me!
Imagine this job:
I will be running a fleet of 40 exotic cars as the personal automotive / hi-tech asst. to the owner of a mega hi-tech corp. I got to check out a Lambhorgini galardo for example, during my interview last week and impressed the big guy by keeping up with him in my s2k!! The cars are all ferrari's, lambo's, porsche's.
This company owns a very successful porsche race team and one of my jobs will be to trailer one of the gt1's to sales events and spin donuts, burn rubber and rev the motor for the event goer's.
Another difficult duty
will be to wine and dine sales contest winners a number of times a year, pick out cars from this fleet for them to drive and lead an overnight trip in one of them after giving a class in cali rules of the road.
Of course as a personal assistant I will be on 7x24 notice to rescue these cars with flat tire or other breakdown and to deliver vehicles to wherever for the boss's conveinence.
Well to say I am overwhelmed at this opportunity is an understatement and btw I will be getting paid well to do this too!
I will be happy to mention company names etc a few weeks from now after I get my feet wet and learn more about how much advertising I can do about this.
Anyway, I just took out all the books from Borders that I could find in order to study up on makes and models, history etc.
If anyone has any tips or info on servicing these vehicles, please let me know. I won't actually have to do the work myself, only manage relationships with the various shops that allready support the cars. One of my first jobs will be to integrate a software / hardware solution for fleet mangement.

just itching to get as many chances as possible and then it won't be like it belongs to me and I can go crazy. I'm real glad I own a cool car like an S2K
so I don't have to go crazy over every exotic car I will work with and piss off the boss or do something stupid and teenager like
I sympathise with the looking at computer screens as after 20 years in IT, i am very glad 2b saying goodbye to that ratrace especially with the huge drop in salary for anyone who was laid off like I was if you manage to get a job. Actually, i've been lookin to get out of it for a few years as i was gettin burnt out. I was startin to look at my auto mechanic days as green grass on the other side of the proverbial fence. I never expected to luck out in quite this way but I sure paid my dues this last 18 months.

I read this yesterday and thought, "It's an early April fool's joke". Now that I find out that you don't actually drive the cars on a daily basis, let me just say "Kudos" on getting a good job!

Looking forward to more details.
