Default After my second S2000....

Although my '03 GPW has "only" 65,000 miles on the , I have started to think about "what's next" in a few years?

Fairly committed to a ragtop with a current dollar in the $40k range (+/- 5k), I find current pickings pretty slim.

Reading in a recent AUTOMOBILE mag about upcoming new drives, I am most intrigued by the 3 cars that Porsche/ VW are considering.

1 Porsche 550- 4 cyl 1.9 liter boxer with 210 hp and 215 lb-ft torq; may only be the 7-speed dual-clutch auto probably too many $$$

2 Audi R5- 5 cyl 340 hp with quattro (std?) which probably will exceed my price target

3 VW BlueSport- 4 cyl 180 hp, and this may be the only one to fit my budget

These ^^^ will not likely be available in the US until 2015. Hope that I can still get IN and OUT of a sports car by that time

Sad that Honda has apparently permanently bailed out of anything interesting.

I'm still on my first S2000.
I fully expect to own it for at least another 10 years if not many more beyond that.

I have to say there aren't a lot of vehicles out there that really inspire me.
certainly not within a $$$$$ range I'd even begin to consider.
I mean the McLarens nice and all but.....

I've always been a Porsche fan, but as little as I'm driving these days, I can barely justify my current S, much less another (probably pricier) sportscar. Who knows, though.

I plan on keeping mine forever. I'm hoping to add a couple of older cars to my 'fleet' but there is really nothing new that grabs me.

I've been having this discussion with a friend of mine. There is nothing new in my price range that interests me and, after 8 years, I haven't gotten bored with the S yet. I may consider building a kit car in retirement.

I keep thinking about a Ford GT. Preferably a Ford GTX1. My wife tells me to keep thinking.

My S has been complete for several years, there's nothing left to do to it. It runs perfectly and I drive it hard. It doesn't break. So why am I looking? I have no idea.

40K will get you into a really nice NA2 (3.2 liter 6-speed) NSX-T. Not a ragtop but you can still get some pretty nice open air motoring with the targa top off...and it stows in the engine cover, not the trunk.

I offer this bit of advice because I went through the same thing. Thought about everything from used Boxster S's to LS2 GTOs. Then I stumbled across a post in the GTO forum about the Acura NSX. I almost immediately thought...hmmm...I always wanted one of those. I bought one sight-unseen on NSXPrime and I don't regret it. I miss the S2000 but if I had it to do over I wouldn't change a thing.
