While Delta has been working it's way to the top of the preferred list, in general they all SUCK.
And it is getting worse. Generally I know how to work the system and typically wind up in exit row, but I still hate it now.

I checked SeatGuru for our flight. It appears our row is next to the galley right behind first/business class. The seat on the aisle says good, the other one closer to the window says mixed. So hoping it's OK. I really wanted a two-person row.

Be sure to check your carry-on weight. I believe that Air France limits it to under 26 or 39 pounds depending on cabin. Flying into CDG is a crap shoot. You never know when they are going on "strike" just to screw things up.

We flew Delta to Italy and were more than pleased. On the flight over the seats were a little tight but on the way back to seats were more than roomy. Serve both ways was very good and the attendants were exceptional. We will use Delta for next years trip to Europe.

American? Never!! I have never had good luck with them.

United? They were much better when they were Continental!

Southwest? They are OK.

American, United, Delta...You can throw a blanket over all of them. They all have problems, although Delta seems to be working harder to fix theirs than the other two. Jet Blue and Spirit are worse still. And by the time you pay for extras, like a SEAT, they aren't all that much more economical. Southwest is a little better than most of the rest, but even they have their issues.

One thing about American, I have found the cost of upgrading to first class/business class fairly reasonable, especially when you factor in free checked baggage. And first is MILES better than coach. (Like a former boss of mine used to say, "It don't cost more to go first class. You just can't stay as long." TSA Pre-check makes the bad experience of flying just a little less bad. If you fly more than a couple times a year, the small fee is well worth it. Shorter line at security (usually). Keep your shoes and belt on. Keep your laptop in its bag. Go through a metal detector instead of a full body scanner. It's amazing how much stress these little things eliminate.

Next to the galley seats are the worst for noise, light, and getting your seat and body bumped by carts and service personnel. As bad as the passenger behind you using your seat back as a handle when they stand up.

If Southwest doesn't fly there, neither do I.

Thankfully we seldom fly. When we do we always try for direct flights. Although no one's mentioned it, Allegiant is at the top of my list for the worst. They are 4 times more likely to breakdown mid-air than any others!
Our experience with Delta has been Ok.
I always had heard JetBlue and Southwest were good....but maybe things have changed.

Haven't flown in a long time. Road trips are the norm. When I read the horror stories of air travel, I don't miss flying, though one can't beat getting to a destination by air vs road at times. There are places in the USA I would like to see. Unless we do a cross country trip, we'll have to fly. Right now there is no destination that I feel is a "must see" that will make me spend the $ and deal with the aggravation of flying.

Flying Singapore Airlines (biz class) to Singapore at end of the year. Never tried them before.

If you are flying on one of the "partner" airlines that contract with the majors, that could be part of the problem. Those smaller airlines have problems hiring enough pilots because they pay them so poorly. I would bet Reno flyers must take one of them to get to a hub.

You will love it!

I've been unemployed for some time and my status got knocked down. Exec Platinum on AA or Delta is great but anything under that is less than ideal. Flying with the masses (not paying for business/first) is like taking public transportation now days. It's as bad as taking a crowded city bus with 1/4 of the passengers legitimately folding rolls of fat into the seats next to them. They should literally be forced to pay for first class or buy 2 seats... and I've heard all the arguments on "fairness" and some people not being able to "help it." Well - it's not "fair" to the people that fit in one seat to not get that WHOLE seat and reasonable space associated with that seat. Life just isn't and can't be fair to everyone in these situations but the people causing the problems should be the ones to pay (literally and figuratively) for their own situations.

Also, you get one carryon and one personal item - otherwise someone gets screwed because you think your better.

Lastly, take ALL your liquids and computer out of your bag.... common sense and expect it. When your crap comes through the Xray.... grab your crap and get out of the way.

I travel a lot and there is also nolonger any common courtesy for consumers in the airports - it is not just the airlines. Thank GOD for TSA Pre-check. Since this is a car forum - I'd bet money on people in the airport whether they coast in the fast lane on interstate or not. It's the same zombie mindset. Also, I have a theory that they should ticket people for driving too slow in the passing lane and those people that get ticketed should lose their right to vote. You think this is extreme but we'd have a much better selected government by this sole (outside of citizenship which is questionable now days) requirement.
