Default America's Cup

I don't know if anyone has been watching the America's Cup this year.
There is a great article about the Augmented Reality i.e those cool graphics overlays they put down.

the latter part does get really geeky.

Amazing technology, making the races very enjoyable to watch.

I hope NZ win the cup, while Ellison has brought tremendous innovation to the series it has come at amazing expense. When only 3 challengers show due to the expense of building a boat and fielding a crew w/ logistic support, something has to be done.

Perhaps a return to single hulls and a move back off-shore.

Have watched most of the races.....The graphic overlays are really something and as "Rugby" wrote make the events enjoyable to watch.

Thought the Kiwi's were going to sweep the series but the Oracle crew are clawing their way back into it. Wonder if they can win two more today or will the Kiwi's finally put it away.

Well Team Oracle/USA won. Coming back from an 8-1 deficit along with a -2 for questionable activities in the prelims.

Unbelievable. Maybe the greatest comeback in the history of sport.

Now hopefully they will revise the formula so a boat doesn't cost 50 million which will allow more competitors to play next time.

Larry the Great has decreed in the past (couple of weeks) that this formula would not be repeated, but I do believe that he will opt for another foiling cat, but smaller and much less expensive. We'll see.

Watched some of the races, can't believe Oracle came back to win it. The tv overlays were great. I used to race smaller boats and cruising class boats and it is amazing to see the boat speed on these tech beasts. I'd love to experience one of those. Anyone catch the Top Gear where they raced a car vs the Kiwi team? Can't believe he dropped the sat phone in the drink!
