I sent the link to +1 as a fun little quiz for him. He got 13 of 13 correct (I knew he would). He had not kept up with the new about fracking but was able to eliminate everything else so he got it right. He's my Sheldon/Einstein.

13 out of 13. None of the questions were really all that scientific.

Exact same results here. I struggled with the ones rearranging the letters, and missed a couple of the logic ones.

I'm shocked. I honestly got 13 of 13. Not only that, but I somehow answered them correctly! Must have been some luck involved.

11 of 13. Also missed the atmosphere, like Patty. And the atom vs electron question. If I can't see it, it doesn't exist. So there.
They were easier than I thought. If they asked why electricity doesn't run down the walls from outlets, I woulda been stumped.

The distribution of results along demographic lines, as shown at the end, is pretty interesting. I wasn't surprised that the nitrogen answer was the one most often missed, but I was amazed that the next most often missed question was the one about the relative sizes of atoms and electrons. Since it was a true/false question every respondent had a 50-50 shot at getting it right. And it's so basic. Yet less than half of all those surveys answered correctly. And even more amazing, more than 40% of college graduates missed it. Wow. Maybe some people were thinking about the size of electron shells.

I was glad to see that a large majority of people understand the danger of overuse of antibiotics, the function of red blood cells, and the nature of continental drift.
