Default Anyone Else Sick of Jacko?

This "guy" may be 100% innocent of the charges brought against him. And everyone is entitled to plastic surgery if that is thier thing. And in our country, I guess if you have enough money to change yourself from black to white you can do so freely. But is anyone else as sick of this "guy" as me? And of course the media just scarfs this stuff up and creates hours worth of programming out of it. I am always amazed at how the western media creates enormous events around irrelevant people. Michael Jackson is an irrelevant person IMHO.

P.S. Sorry...dial-up connection = no spell checker.

Me too.

The problem is, I think, that there is so much money involved with the media that they have to have "items". If not for the Michael Jacksons and Jennifer Lopez's of the world, how would they sell People Magazine and the New York Post?

He's only irrelevant if you call every other entertainer of his status irrelevant. At one time he was a huge star all over the world. As for tv, that's how they make their living and pay the bills. I unplugged the tube long ago and don't miss it a bit. I am now blissfully ignorant. Not really, but the tube force feeds you. Reading can be done on your own terms. Those hideous pictures of M. Jackson keep jumping out at me though.

I like the new show Joan of Arcadia. So far it has not had any Michael Jackson in it. Many of my friends like 24. I tried to watch it several times, but at the end of the episode, I just didn't care. NYPD Blue is still a good show, but is now too repetative.

Newton Minnow said it in the '60s: "Television is a vast wasteland...." It hasn't improved any, in my opinion. M. Jackson is a freak and a product of TV, but so are the rest of the pop/rock entertainment scene. As has been said, it's all about selling things, and we vintage types are invisible as far as a market is concerned.

Yes, I'm tired of hearing about Jackson, too. Now, and it had to happen, some Black "leaders" are charging racism. Why would Black people defend someone who got rid of his black face and put a white man's nose on it?

Of course, Jackson could be innocent. It's not unheard of to accuse someone just because they have deep pockets; maybe Michael refused to pay into a blackmail scheme?

The daily news is so depressing, especially now that even Bush is acting like a Democrat!
