Arlington Ceremony
Matt
I agree with your count -- I will be speaking with Bettye tonight and update her as to who is coming
I would encourage anyone in the S2000 community to attend -- I know John and Bettye would appreciate it -- And in respect to a great member of our community
See you soon
We will call you when we get in to town

Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington County, Virginia, is a military cemetery in the United States of America, established during the American Civil War on the grounds of Arlington House, formerly the estate of the family of Confederate general Robert E. Lee's wife Mary Anna (Custis) Lee, a descendant of Martha Washington. The cemetery is situated directly across the Potomac River from the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., and near The Pentagon. It is served by the Arlington Cemetery station on the Blue Line of the Washington Metro system.

Just back from the ceremony and reception. Granny and I conveyed everyone's sentiments to Bettye, and she was very appreciative. The graveside service was impressive as all funerals at Arlington are. Band, honor guard, gun salute, horsedrawn caisson, etc. The family liked that some of us brought our S2000s.

For what it is worth when the procession moved from the "transfer point" where John's ashes were put in the caisson and transported to the site of the service we were given the choice of either walking behind the caisson (if one could keep up) or driving behind the people walking behind the caisson. For more than one reason this provided an opportunity for me to drive the S2000 as part of the procession to John's final resting place. In my mind it seemed fitting to do so.
Additionally, when the Chaplin said a few words about how John lived his life he did mention that several members of "John's S2000 car club" were present". Hugs to Bettye, John junior and the rest of the family including John's father.
Of course, when they played Taps, I don't thing that there was a dry eye to be found.
RIP John (RC Ryder)
