I do like flowers, I take lots of pictures of flowers, I have pictures of flowers here and there in the house, but painting is a skill I will never know. I took the easy route to capture this flower, the camera. The flower is the same kind he is painting. I'd never have the patience to be a painter. We we head out to our usual spots looking for birds to photograph if they don't show up in 10 minutes, we are moving on.
I am trying to fire myself up to get into drawing and painting again. Here's a link to a person that does artistic sketching using an iPad app and a special pen. Give the link time to load as each of these is actually a video of the process he goes through. Just click on one to see the the work develop.
The +1 is working on a couple of commissions right now. One is a cat that belongs to a friend of mine and the other is a picture of the Last Supper that my hairdresser and his wife asked for. We attended their civil wedding in Old Town Alexandria last week. They were married in a Catholic cathedral in Lebanon last year.

Do you like flowers? Do you like paintings of flowers? Being honest, I hardly ever stop and study a flower painting. But I did accidentally come across how to paint one that I found very interesting to watch. You art lovers might enjoy it as well.
^I'm in the middle of watching the video. I had to stop and Google the paint, casein. I'd never heard of it before. It's an interesting medium. I like that it's water soluble but won't get lifted by a second layer on top of it like watercolors will.
"The medium is casein. This is my first outing with casein, and I'm already madly in love with it. It is a water-based paint medium with working properties that resemble gouache, cel vinyl, and, in some respects, oil. I've used all of those latter paints quite a bit, but casein has qualities all its own. It can be used transparently, but it has great opacity when you need it, something often lacking in acrylic.
The paint has a delicious, unforgettable aroma that resembles the smell of cosmetics. The milk- based binder seals each layer enough so that they won't pick up with later application."
