the carbs and protien are simply to replenish your system of the vital nutrients that it needs..and they are best put to use within 1 hr after workout to once again "replenish"

Great advice, guys. Although I have never had a much of a weight problem, I definitely needed to work out more as I got into my 40s. So for the past several years, I've been going to a body sculpting class twice a week at my gym, which is basically free-weight and strengthening exercises - pretty rigorous. A complete upper and lower body workout. Lasts about an hour. I would never work out on my own at home. Just too lazy. I need the motivation of other people around me.

Also, I recommend, rather than running on a treadmill or anything that puts strain on the knees or ankles, a cross trainer like Precor. It is perfect for an aerobic workout without the pounding, because you keep your feet on the pedals. And you can adjust the resistance and type of workout. They also have them with arm handles. Guess you can't really afford one at home but if you belong to a gym, they are the best, I think. I also walk alot - used to run 5Ks but hurt my foot.

GOOD LUCK, Y'ALL!!! Find a routine that you can live with and stick to it!

Y'all should have seen Perky in her swimsuit at our 2-woman pool party at Spring Fling. Talk about your girlish figure. I was ready to drown her. (under my breath) never had much of a weight problem....humph!

And just who do you think it going to take over your #1 VSA spot for 22 days while you're galavanting around Europe? Sounds like my kind of vacation, though. How many countries are you planning to hit?

OH RO-OB!

How's the treadmill coming? You didn't forget to check in, did ya?

I'm back doing weights twice a week, and jogging 5.6 miles, 3 or 4 times a week. (I didn't feel too good after Spring Fling so I laid off a bit for a week.) My weight is below my goal set in January. Andy has stalled with ten pounds to go so he finally got back on the treadmill this week. I can't wait for him to drop some more. He looks OK now but he swears he'll shave off his beard and mustache if he loses more. I wanna see. He's had them since he was 18. Our kids have never seen his face naked.

Kyle (our 15 year-old) has lost 49.6 lbs. He should hit 50 lbs on Thursday, when they go to Weight Watchers.
