Small market teams really do not have a chance anymore. I don't think there are any easy answers for the game of baseball. Yankees are clicking well for now. I hope they continue to deliver in timely fashion. It is after all a very long season. Go Yankees!
Kansas City won the World Series within the decade. Milwaukee has been consistently good for the last few years. Ditto Saint Louis.
meanwhile the Mets have largely been bad for years, Los Angeles Angels spend a ton and stink despite two all time cool players, the Yankees haven’t won in 13 years, LA Dodgers have won once, etc.
I just don’t know there was ever a time where ‘small market teams’ have dominated, other than pre-free agency…which is deeply problematic. Even then, the Yankees, Dodgers, Giants, etc., still were heavyweights.
This is a common refrain in all sports, yet the Milwaukee Bucks are huge spenders in the NBA to keep together a winning team. The owners have the money, it is whether they want to spend.
I happen to agree with you. I too like minor league ball. In my opinion, it's the way the game was meant to be played.
I want to go to Maimonides Park in Coney Island this summer to see the Brooklyn Cyclones (New York Mets affiliate) play. Its a fairly new park where the Tornado roller coaster used to be. When you sit in the stands you look out over the ocean. More importantly, minor league ball is reasonably priced and a lot of fun to watch. https://www.milb.com/brooklyn

I agree. We enjoyed going to the Wilmington Blue Rocks games when we lived in Wilmington. No overpaid prima donnas and they interacted with the fans. We got to watch Johnny Damon play. He was a super star and ultimately played for the RedSox and the Yankees. A real fan favorite.
We have MLB Draft League in Frederick, MD. We went to watch the first game this season and it was a blast. I was impressed with how professional the game day events were executed. I enjoyed watching the game. Manager for Frederick Keys is Joe Oliver, former Cincinnati Reds player. He did play 12 games for Yankees in his last year. He seemed like a genuinely nice guy with good demeanor and fan interactions. I am glad he will be helping these college kids along their baseball journey. I will likely go see them a few more times throughout the summer. My son noted he probably was the biggest star that day in the field.
Yankees trounced Pirates last night. It seems when the game is so lopsided, the losing team turns to non pitcher to pitch the rest of the game. This results in ridiculous grand slam as seen yesterday by Yankee player. I think they will need to change this after this season. I think it takes something away from the game. The game is no longer competitive and the losing team is trying to save their pitching arms for the next iteration of games. Though I understand the reasoning behind this, still it leaves bad taste. Game should be played competitively till the last out. The final score of 16 : 0 is not funny. Shame! Hits are meaningless once legitimate pitchers are gone. I imagine those hits and grand slams still count for the players. What a shame! We are going to go see tonight's game between Orioles and Angels.
My son and I went to see the Orioles play Angels last night . Last time we went to Camden Yards was with S2K Mid Atlantic group 18 years ago. Took some pictures of few Angels players.
Camden Yards does great job! We'll go see the Orioles play Yankees. Go Yankees!
The four game series between Yankees and Red Sox were epic. Yankees took the first two and Red Sox took the last two. Red Sox is a force to be reckoned with. These games had all the drama and clutch hits by both teams. I think Yankees, Astros and Red Sox are the three best teams out of American League. Yankees are faltering a bit whereas Red Sox are surging. Astros is unstoppable for now. What an exciting baseball season this is! I think All Star game will be fun to watch. Go Yankees!
