Default The Bathroom Scale. What's in your bathroom?

I know we have lots of folks watching the scale. It goes up, it goes down, and sometimes it goes back up.

A while back I bought a digital scale. I have yet to be able to compare my AM weight on the scale with my weight on a professional scale at the doctor's. I never expect to weigh at home what I will at the doc's. Gotta add at least 3-4 pounds(more or less depending on if you kick off you shoes).

I'm not sure how accurate the digital scale is. One little movement of the scale and weight can fluctuate 2-3 pounds if you step on/off. Pick a weight, any weight.

Our bathroom isn't large so there no good spot to put the scale and leave it there.

I used to have an old spring scale that I'd set about four pounds over the zero, so my AM weight would be close to what I'd weigh on the doc's scale. I may have a big surprise at my next check up.

So, if you are one who is monitoring your weight, what scale are you using? Old fashioned spring scale, digital, professional scale $$$$$? Maybe you just judge your weight by your clothing? Weight is just a number....

No one should not be concerned about their weight if it varies a few pounds here and there. Try to stay about the same and don't get obsessed about weighing in every day. Monitor your weight maybe once a week. Even if you're on a weight loss goal, daily weighing in daily is not productive.

One of the doctors that I continue to see about every 3 months always asks me what my weight is. I just get on the digital scale I picked up at Costco last year, and round up to the nearest tenth of a pound a day or two before I go in. A set of clothes will add poundage, of course, so try to be consistent with shoes off or on, and if you're in your skivies or not.

For the record, since you asked, I'm using a digital scale that is stored on its' edge in my tiny 3/4 bathroom. When I take it out, I need to move the bath mat out of the way to lay it flat. The cat usually comes in to see what's going on.

Agreed, but sometimes I need a daily head slap from the scale to keep things in check and keep me away from the bad food. Ideally, twice a week is probably enough. Mondays to see how much damage one did on the weekend, and on Friday to see how much you lost during the week, hopefully to not "find" it again on the coming weekend.

Old fashion spring scale in the bedroom. I've verfied it several times with the 'docs'. No need for a fancy one. To quickly loss a few pounds - just strip. May not be pretty (me that is) but accurate.

FWIW pick one day of the week, mine is Thursady, and only check then. Saves all the highs/lows and in no time it will tell you if your are keeping your long term goal.

I'm good at giving advice; not so go at following it. I'm at 93 oz of beer today and it is not even 8:30. And the nachos were really good! Note to self: meeting buds at 3PM blows a diet. Best part, I've got a week before the next weigh in!

My digital scale is about 5 lbs on the pessimistic side. My buck nekked weight at home is the same as the Dr's office with full winter clothing. But as was said, it's all relative anyway.

If you don't weigh you don't know.

Lainey, I like to know what to expect when I go to Weight Watchers on Monday nights. Their scale read 1.8 lbs higher than my Weight Watchers scale, with the same clothing/shoes within a 30 minute time frame.

I get that, Patty.

Logically, I know my body weight is not what the doctor's scale says, but I'd like to know I'm close to an accurate weight. Especially if one is trying to lose just a few pounds. One day it's gone, the next it's back because I move the scale, or because I ate too much chocolate? I have number in my head that I don't want to exceed, even with clothes on at the doc's office, right now, I think I need to ditch 4-6 pounds. Again. It may not sound like much, but 4-6 pounds either way, does show on someone my height.
