Becoming a statistic
Well all, although I've lurked here nearly everyday following As Vintage Turns, I've haven't been able to make the time until now to post regularly to keep a thread active and flowing.
Last monday I was made redundant, replaced by a younger lower salaried person that could do a house renovation that I was re-assigned to after my project of 3 years wound down (developer no longer wanted to pay for my time) though the project is unfinished. I've been asked to come back on an hourly basis as needed, but it'll only be a trickle at best.
The architectural profession has been decimated during this recession, I hear most firms have lost around 35 to 45% of their staff in the last 9 months so prospects are not good in that regard.
I've been through this several times before in '88, '92, '97, & '02...but it's more challenging as one becomes more vintage. Thankfully I have no debt (but no assests either) and have low expenses, so we're OK for now (my wife quit her job last July).

Dex9, you must "know" me, then, since I post regularly in As Vintage Turns.
Sorry to hear about your job situation but I'm glad you've started a thread. I hope you join this little world more often.

Yes, I'm the Bronx cheesecake man, and went off-roading w/ the Ferrari when you had the rental.
My other claim to fame was being there when Granny discovered her secret compartment w/ the wheel locks!

You came for the drive part of Spring Fling 2004, eh? That's when Keith (?) showed up with his Ferrari and Granny found her secret compartment while we were stopped at the porta-potties. I think we used my Swiss Army knife to cut your cheesecake up at the gas station.

Howdy pardner, long time no hear from. Sorry to hear about job situation. Sounds like you'll be okay though without any debt.
Oh, and how well I remember that cheesecake and messing up your S with it. Did you ever forgive me for that one?
