Default BMW 335CI

The local BMW dealer has a 2008 6 speed with low mileage. I have long wanted a BMW, but always have been concerned with reliability. I checked online and found that there have been some problems with the HP fuel pump and injector's. Apparently, BMW has recognized the problem and replaced the HP fuel pumps and injector's as they fail. When they do fail, the car goes into a "limp home" mode doesn't sound very encouraging. I know that Bill has a 330, but has anyone any experience with the twin turbo models?

If it were me, and I was concerned, I would go to the BMW forums and see what their members are saying about the problem.

Bill, I did get the HPFP/injector information from one of their chatrooms. In the meantime, I visited the dealership took the car out for a spin and loved it. I made an offer on the car and the salesperson said that he could not go that low. He did take my telephone number and I believe that I made a very serious offer for the car. I do expect that he will get back to me with me with a counter within a week. We'll see!

Good luck with the search and negotiation, Glenn.

I have a love/hate relationship with Bimmers: loved the new alpine white '93 325i coupe that I leased for 42 months (my first real performance car) but disliked the high cost of parts/labor. I still drop by the local bimmer dealer occasionally and see what's on his lot. Sadly, there are fewer and fewer bimmers that come thru with a manual tranny

With a fairlyh recent '08 model, does it come thru as a Certified purchase? That additional warranty coverage might assuage your concerns

There is still 10 Month's left on the factory warranty and 2 year's 10 Month's left on the Certified warranty. Since the car has just had all of the services done, I may get a pair of windshield wiper's out of the factory warranty. There is also about 7 year's 110K mile warranty left on the HPFP. The car only has 24K on it. It's gray, with black Dakota leather interior and the Sport's package. Power to burn!

Why don't your post a POLL to help you decide whether or not to make the deal?

Hey, you might as WELL get some of that cash out from under your mattress
