Default Boomers....

This new NYT free weekly subscription for BOOMERS caught my attention, since I was born in the second month of the Booomer era....defining as starting January 1946.

It just made me wonder....how many on the forum fall into this category....1946 thru 1964 IIRC

This thread would also be an OPENING to say....what do you THINK about the whole "boomer" thing? Valid era or another marketing ploy by corporate America?

I just did. I'm curious to see the weekly blog. It's free, and if it doesn't suit me, it's easy to unsubscribe.

What's this about bloomers? I think my grandma wore those. And I'm pretty sure she didn't have wings, right or left.

Those of us south of the Red River might be insulted by your inference of any Texan being a "Boomer". Unless you attended OU.

I always thought the baby boom was the years 1946 to 1955, the ten year period that the returning soldiers and their spouses had their children. The boom resulted from all of those men coming home from the war and together with their wives, started families at the same time.

When did the years 1956 to 1964 get included?

As I recall, the years were 1946 to 1964, which always seemed to me like a long timespan to include due to the men returning home from the war. I could remember the years because I was born in 1946 and 1964 is just the 4 and the 6 transposed.

(Just for the record, though, my parents were not separated during the war. My father was an officer, so my mother was allowed to go with him. He was stationed in Roswell, New Mexico, and my older sister was born in New Mexico in 1943. I guess I was conceived in New Mexico. )
