I happened to be home today and watched the sentencing hearing live. It was interesting. It appears he has to serve 7.5 years before he's up for parole. The max is something like 27 years. The sentencing was complicated because there were numerous counts with varying amounts of time - some were concurrent and some were consecutive. Two of the concurrent counts were for 15 years, with a minimum of five. But then a couple of consecutive counts added on the 2.5 years.

I'm glad that some justice has been done.

I didn't realize O.J. was 61. Well, at least he doesn't have to worry about retirement: free food, clothes, housing, "entertainment," etc, for the next several years. If he gets the maximum, he will be ~88 when he gets out. Maybe he will finance the installation of a golf course at the prison. I'm glad he finally got some form of justice dished out to him.

I'm hoping now that he'll be on the inside he may actually be able to start his quest for the real killers. The search of country club golf courses didn't seem to be very productive.

I guess we are all asuming he was guilty of the previous crimes with which he was charged.

Actually now I'm wondering how based on the preponderance of the evidence, especially the evidence the jury was never allowed to hear because of the prosecutions ineptitude, that you'd still be entertaining a doubt.

Sometimes juries get it wrong. And sometimes subsequent events make it right.

Looks like I was wrong on the minimum sentence he'll have to serve - it's nine years.
