Default Calling our IT guys & gals

OK, we've got a number of IT-type folks here, so I have a question. Is anyone here experienced in web development using MS Sharepoint? I'm looking into it for a client, and I'd like a sanity check on what I've found. It doesn't seem too suitable for what they want, but I'd like to find out if I'm missing something. I'd like to give you a phone call to chat about it, if you're amenable.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, just move on, nothing to see here....

Jonas, I got nothing. I'll be going now, and don't worry, I won't let the door hit me in the............

Nice seeing you though.

Not a fan of it, from a user point of view

http://www.pcardprogram.gov.sk.ca/default.aspx

I don't know if this is restricted site or not.

I don't know the full capabilties of the software so I can speak technically about it.

Some people here at work use it. I guess it is great when you are doing collaborative work with work teams. Before, LiveLink was used storing/displaying web-based info.

I too would like to know more about SharePoint. Here are some pros/cons:

Advantages of SharePoint:

1.Allows team collaboration on preparation of written material
2.Easy centralized storage of reference material
3.Easy tracking of collaborative efforts on shared project material

Disadvantages of SharePoint

1.Another piece of software to learn how to use
2.Microsoft recommends upgrading to 2007 Microsoft Office Suite for best results with SharePoint v.3.0 or SharePoint Server 2007.
3.No archiving functionality

We do a lot with it here at work. But I don't know much about its underlying structure or what it can and cannot do. I just know it can be very useful. (I'm such a BIG help, I know.)
