I finished the timing belt/water pump on the Integra. You don't need any computer skills to do most tasks on a modern car; however, I think you do need long, thin arms with hands the size of a six-year old girl but the strength of an adult male...

Hand size definitely an issue when working on Japanese cars.
Ironically I find it is not as much an issue on my MB's when I work on them.

As I said in the other thread, my kids aren't very interested in cars. I was driving over 90 miles to go to Cars and Coffee, in Irvine, early Saturday mornings, and my daughter lived just 4 miles away from it, but never wanted to get out of bed to go. I taught my son to drive my '05 Suzuka S, but he didn't want to after the second time. I know they kind of like riding in my S, with me, but they don't seem to have much desire for cars.

My dad was an Air Force pilot in the Korean War. He flew F 86s among other things, and I think that got him hooked on acceleration. Or, maybe he already had it. I know he crashed a motorcycle too.

He had an early Corvette, a '58, I think, black with white on the sides and a red interior. The hardtop came off. I remember riding in it when I was very young. He sold it due to money issues, I'm sure. He also play/raced home-made go karts. I think I got the car bug from him.

When he was in his late 60s, around 66, I think, he bought a new red NSX. I think it was a 1991. He loved it and put over 100,000 miles on it.

^My dad was living in assisted living for about a year, before Alzheimer's erased his memories that went with these images.

^This was one of his go karts with me in it.

^Dad and me in 1975, before my prom.

^Dad and me in 2007, when he still remembered me, but not much else.

My dad's ('91 ?) NSX with my '01 Silverstone S.

Wow, Patty...thanks for sharing that tribute to your dad. He sounds like he lived life to the fullest. I would love to have talked to him about his experiences. Alzheimers is certainly a cruel disease. My heart goes out to you and him.

Edit: In one of the pictures, is that a P-51 in the globe? I'll bet he flew them, too.

Aww, you're welcome, Gene.

I'm just now starting to remember the better days of my dad's and not just the ones when he was losing his brain functions.

This was taken at the Tail of the Dragon last year. It answers the question.

BTW, I'm the elderly gentleman in the picture.

That's my sons and me standing.

That old guy sitting was trying to figure out why all these people drive this road.
