Default Car Smells

No, not that my car smells, but rather the distinctive smells of a car. I stopped by a local speed place (http://www.allspeedautoworks.com/service.html) , and they had two cars on the floor that I have had in kind at some point in the distant past. I was amazed that the smell in their old Mustang, and an 80ish Porsche, took me right back to sitting in my own vehicles. It's amazing that the combo of fabrics/vinyl/undercoating and whatever else, retains the combined "scent" of a particular car for so long.

certain cars develop a certain smell and it's not that new car smell.
Some are good i.e. leather and others are just vile musty smells.

New hondas with cloth interiors. I had a couple of CRXs and an Accord that all had a certain smell for the first year or so. It was sort of a variation on your typical new car smell. Just like the steering feel, it seemed to be commmon to all Honda products. I can still remember it. Don't know if the new ones share that smell.

I love the smell of leather. I've had cars with leather interiors that retained the smell for a long time. But my current three cars, the S2000, CRV and TSX, have leather interiors but no leather smell, not even when new.

MGs, new or old, always developed a musty, mildew smell. You could always tell when you were in an MG.
