Carry-on luggage
We may be doing some traveling sometime this year and might want to buy some carry-on luggage. What are your favorites? I have been favoring small-medium soft-side wheeled suitcases, but lately have been considering duffel or wheeled duffel bags.
Kiplinger magazine thinks the Air Boss bag from Red Oxx (www.redoxx.com) is one of the best designed bags made, but its price is relatively high. Air Boss was developed by Red Oxx with the assistance of Doug Dyment, whose web site http://www.onebag.com has a ton of useful information.
I know many of you have extensive travel experience. I welcome any of your suggestions.

Make sure whatever you get stays within the defined size limit of carry-on.
Many of the airline are getting really picky about this.
Personally I prefer a bag with integral dolly but that is because usually I have a computer bag in tow as well.
The second computer bag sits on the top of the dollied bag and rides on the handle.
It's a little easer than the two bag Gunga Din sherpa approach.
If it's just an overnight deal. The red oxx looks reasonable.
Although I find it's easier to have one big volume than multiple smaller one.
Whatever you look at make sure you can get to those vital liquid pouches when you go through security.
I do have one bag which has some small pouches on the end. for this purpose.
The frequent fliers will pummel you with dirty looks if you stand there for ten minutes rummaging through your bag trying to find your stuff to through in the bin by itself.

This is my carry-on. It has been holding up well in the year I've been using it. The top pocket is a good size to hold your liquids bag, and is easy to open and close with one hand while you are juggling stuff at the security checkpoint. The "expansion" feature adds an extra few inches of depth, but will make it too big for carry-on use. It's useful for adding some volume when you aren't traveling by air. It rolls smoothly, and the handle opens and closes easily.
I have a big wheeled duffel that I use as checked luggage. I wouldn't use a duffel as carry-on. It would be too easy to over stuff it, and end up with a bag you need to check.

That's pretty cool, Brian. How well does it fit in the S trunk?
