Thumbs up Catalog/online shopping

We recently discussed how some of us hate shopping. Don't like the styles, or we find something we like and they don't carry it in the size we need.

I do some catalog shopping, but I probably only keep about 25% of what I buy, if I'm purchasing clothing. I needed dress shoes recently and actually bought them on line. Bought three pairs, one fit, sent the other two back, no charges for shipping either way. Now that was easy. No time running around and no wasting of gas which is once again getting VERY expensive.

Do you shop online or from catalogs, and how do you fare?

i ONLY buy stuff that is impersonal....i.e. computers, tv's, car stuff, tires, cables, speakers, etc.

i bought a pair of ferragamo shoes once, but only because i tried on the exact pair at a local store and knew my size and stuff...they were over a hundred dollars cheaper on-line...even after duty and stuff.

I have shopped on line and from catalogs. Now, I am trying to declutter and save $$ so I don't shop at all. The only thing I bought for my HI trip was a pair of shoes which I have yet to wear. Easy Spirit, basic black leather flats with slight wedge heel. Comfortable so definite keepers. Oh, and I bought them at a mall.

BTW, anyone need anything? Matt and I have 25 years of stuff to get rid of. ( we're keeping the S )

I look at it this way. Online is nothing more than an electronic catalogs. But generally only casual clothing is bought online.

Let's put it this way, my UPS guy knows right where to hide things so no signature is required... I order a ton of stuff on-line, in fact just last night this arrived.

Looks like a simple backpack, but it's designed to carry all my digital SLR equipment. I could not find this item in my little city, no way.

Yuh, I do it. Not personal stuff or clothing, but COSTCO sales items, electronics and cameras, motocycle parts, lots of batteries, etc. I look around for free shipping and no sales taxes. Yes, I definitely save money and not just pennies either. I do my homework though. Just saved well over 100 dollars on three AGM sealed motorcycle batteries.

I like buying books and music online. None of the brick and morter stores around here has much selection beyond the current best sellers.

I recently found that the internet is a great place for buying appliance parts. My local shop wanted $80 for a washing machine pump, plus $18 for shipping, plus they wouldn't get it for 2 weeks. I got it on Ebay for $35 plus $8 for 3 day shipping.

But I won't do clothes online. I'll sometimes look online to see if a store carries something I think I might want. But I'll still go to the store to see if it fits, feels right, and is put togther well.
