Maybe she can get him on horse. Better not, if he liked it he would have to find another job (its a money pit). How a person spends their off hours when they are working pretty much defines how they will when they retire IMHO. The big difference is the free time for long trips.

Found out a little more about what my Advanced Surgery would be. Panoptix Trifocal

No difference as far as risk vs. Toric surgery

One difference is they use a lazor to center the lens

Would do left eye first because it has better near vision; that becomes the base line for the second eye’s lens

It takes the brain longer to adjust to this lens because it must learn distance, mid-range, and near vs. Toric which is just distance

I'm still on the fence as to which one but have to decide by tomorrow afternoon.

After talking with a personal friend who had the advance done with poor results, plus a couple others, I can not find any strong evidence to support trying the advanced surgery. On the other hand everyone who has had the Toric has had good results, some better then they expected. Toric it is. Final answer! Thanks all for listening and input.

Dave, I am glad that you have made your decision. That is sometimes the hardest part.

What time do you have the surgery on Thursday? What time do you have to be there?

My surgery, and goblue's, too, went very well. As I recall, the surgery itself was done in something like 12 minutes! I guess it is pretty routine now. Of course, there is a little bit of recovery time, but we were out of there pretty quick, too!

Sue, 12 minutes is the time I've heard from everyone. That seems a little strange but I'll take it. Have to be there at 8:00am. That will be the toughest part for both of us. And, then we do it again the following day, a 8:00am follow up appointment.

Yeah, be prepared for lots of appointments for followup. My doctor did it all as a package deal, so there was no charge for each separate appointment. From start to finish, I think between both eyes, I had something like 10 appointments within a 2 month time frame.

My doctor made (or set?) mine as "slightly myopic." I wear glasses for driving (although I am not required to) so that I can see farther and clearer at a distance. I wear glasses for reading only for very tiny font.

I think that goblue's was not done "slightly myopic." I think that he can see farther than I can, but he cannot see as well as I can closeup. He does not wear any glasses for driving, but needs to wear reading glasses most of the time, although not for computer distances.

In any case, though, we are both very happy with our results.

Mine were just standard lenses, with no upcharge, because I only had mild astigmatism.

goblue's were a premium lens, Toric, with an upcharge, because he had more astigmatism than I.

Hope everything goes well for you.
