Default Cell phone question

When storing contact numbers in a cell do you need to enter the long distance number "1" before entering the area code? I did. But I was told recently that I did not have to do that.

No "1" needed when dialing.

So I can delete all the "1" before my numbers?

Thanks. I'm not sure I'll like it all that much, but thanks.

You CAN delete the 1 but you don't have to in all those entries that are already in the phone.

They say that it only hurts for the first couple of decades.

No 1 needed in the USA, others countries yes. Also some prepaid cellular devices require the area code to be dialed post paid not yet. That will all be changing eventually.

Mine wouldn't even get a signal in Toronto last month, so I guess that doesn't matter.
