I can assure you, that would be Arbor Day, Memorial Day is one of the holidays where we honor our war veterans.
Just checked with a friend from home -- it was definitely Memorial Day. Perhaps we should have only honored the military dead, but we made it an all-encompassing event.

And that was only because nobody in Spain had heard of Vinland, even though the Norse had been there 500 years before.
The skraeling here were smart and evicted them.

IMHO, Christmas.

Sadly, most people look with a blank stare when you explain the religious meaning behind Christmas (and Easter). The dates are insignificant, but it's the REASON for those holidays which is important (to many of us). However in today's "PC" world, we now must refer to Christmas as just part of the "Winter Holidays."

Wheee, and they left the Kensington Rune Stone to prove they were here! Why don't we --- add another commercialized holiday, Leif Erikson Day, October 9!
Make it Sept 21. I'd like tomorrow off.

I agree. When you explain that it is based on the celebration that the gods have chosen to start making the days longer again, many people question your sanity. But then if they go and research it, they find out that is the true "religious meaning behind Christmas".

By unanimous consensus, Sept 24 shall hereby be known as Leif Erikson Day, and we shall all get it off from work as a paid holiday. All merchants shall be authorized to start selling cheesy model longboats on June 24, because it's never too early to start preparing for Leif Erikson Day. Also, everyone shall wear LED bunny ears on their head in tribute.

Damn, I was hoping those cool helmets with the horns like the Beserkers wore (and the fat lady at the opera wears) would be the required head wear.
