The plan of the two POS who committed the recent shootings in San Bernadino, based on the evidence of the other POS who got the guns and explosives for them was to toss pipe bombs on the freeway therefore stopping traffic so they could randomly start shooting people in their stopped cars. So, sit there and wait for your execution or take action and shoot at those bastards. I'll take my chances on firing back.
OMG. You really believe that? You have been watching too much tv. Nothing personal. But really, I am glad I do not live in your view of the world.

I don't know where Ray heard that theory, but is it really more unbelievable than what they actually did before they were finally caught and shot down? Why did they have bags full of pipe bombs?

Actually, it has been reported that they had plans with Marquez (the gun supplier) to do a couple of things, including the tossing of the pipe bombs onto the freeway. I believe that one didn't happen because Marquez chickened out. Those plans were in 2012 after he purchased the guns. Marquez then fell out of touch with Farook until the shootings happened and he knew the guns he supplied were used. He made some damaging 911 calls incriminating himself as being the supplier, which will be used against him in court.

In New York, I believe you are required to have a CWP to purchase/possess a handgun. Even if it never leaves your home you must have a CWP.

Since then, crime has declined significantly in the United States,[1] and current crime rates are approximately the same as those of the 1960s.[2]

The FBI says crime rates, including murder, were down last year. The report is in contrast to headlines this year about a surge in killings in some major cities.
The annual Uniform Crime Report statistics released Monday (9/28/15) come amid lingering tension over police shootings and the relationship between officers and minority communities. The report says that in 2014 the U.S. recorded the fewest murders since 2009. Most other violent crimes, such as robbery, burglary, theft and arson have declined, while aggravated assaults and rapes, which now includes a broader definition, were on the rise in 2014.

This is a timely conversation as I was discussing with Looter last week. As some of you may know my sisters Mother in Law was murdered last month in her own home by a "alleged" B&E suspect. That got me thinking, in Canada anything with less than a 4 inch barrel is a prohibited firearm along with assault rifles etc. It is virtually impossible to even own any type of pistol so home defence would be with a long gun and concealed is out of the question :-) Gun stores do not even carry pistols. As to Police marksmanship about a year ago a coyote was wandering around and the police decided he needed to be shot ?? Nine shots later from close range with a 9mm Glock he had not been even grazed !

Criminals prefer defenseless victims. I'm sure the San Bernadino (sic?) shootings were conducted in a place firearms are prohibited. Just like the Connecticut school and Virginia Tech shootings. Since the law prohibits firearms in those places these attacks were impossible. These stories are complete hoaxes. Only the victims obeyed the law.

The crime rate for CCW holders is apparently lower than that of police officers. However safety is very important. Statistically I happen to be in a group most likely to have an unintentional discharge, this comes from familiarity and time with firearms. Aware of that I take extra steps to ensure I am not complacent. For example, when cleaning I physically remove ammunition from that area to keep me from mindlessly loading and pulling a trigger.

Do I still have fun? Seriously? Do I drink? I don't need to drink to have fun and I sure as heck am not going to drive and drink. That pretty much takes care of most errands and events I go to and happen to be carrying. When I am at home that is a different story. Carrying becomes second nature. Wallet, mobile, gun, keys, sunglasses and out the door.

I don't lie around sweating my house is going to catch fire because I happen to have fire extinguishers on hand (BTW water, dry chemical, Halon). Just because I wear a seat belt does not mean I am so worried about a car crash I can't enjoy the drive.

Air Horn as a home defense? How about a racking sound from a 12 gauge? You are smoking something in addition to drinking to much if you think a perp(s) breaking in is not going to have a confrontation with someone who can put them in jail. As a volunteer with my parish at a local prison, I have heard first hand from those very individuals the reasons the killed homeowners during a robbery/invasion/break in. Air horns are not going to cut it. I can tell you some of those first hand accounts recount the absolute fear/respect they had for a shotgun sound. Some acquaintances of mine have sent thieves literally running after racking a pump scattergun. No shots fired and situation was resolved with the exception of replacing/repairing windows/doors destroyed being kicked in.

I understand where you are coming from:

"Some acquaintances of mine have sent thieves literally running after racking a pump scattergun. No shots fired and situation was resolved with the exception of replacing/repairing windows/doors destroyed being kicked in."

But there is no way of telling if they were running from the sound of a racking gun or just any sound coming from the house.

When you forget your gun, how do you feel? Do you rush home to get it? Are you: Defenseless? Afraid? So sorry for you.

Carrying a loaded gun around is not that same as having a fire extinguisher in your house or wearing a seat belt when you drive.
