Congrats Boulder CO
The problem with this study is that they failed to take a look at my town.

"City population of 282,000"!!! Holy crap! When we lived there (until 1997), it was well under 100K. This must be Boulder and environs (which doesn't change the fundamental result).
If they look at all incorporated municipalities (independent of size), Los Alamos would probably be on top, particularly in terms of graduate degress and for sure in terms of PhD physicists. The recent brain drain, however, may be changing that.

HPHThat's interesting about Boulder. It has changed from a quiet little town of about 25,000 in the sixties to a city that is fused with Denver. The 25 mile freeway commute from Denver used to be a lonely little trip across the prairie, but now it is solid community.

If Washington DC made the top 10, why does this country still have so many problems?
I would hate to think were Green Bay fit in....somewhere in the lower 1/3 for sure. Not a huge college town, quite the contrast to when I lived in Madison, WI (lots of PHDs driving cab).
