Default Crazy Dog Gone idea...

For all you dog lovers who may understand my plight:

First, I know, I should do a rescue...been to all the local shelters and
a. No small dogs suitable for an apt and office
b. the few there are all spoken for...adoption can be such a heartbreak when you wait and it goes to someone else! I don't think I can go through that again.

Second, why pick a rare breed? I went through and did my research, and if things break right this may be the right dog in many ways for my 'needs'.

So; during my morning commute, this idea struck:

I posted on 3 german Kromi club sites (someone help me translate and post in German) w/ a message requesting an exchange from a breeder (I can't afford the time and money to go to Germany; and if I did, I'd have to drive the 'Ring and I'd really be broke!):

1 Kromi pup for 2 weeks in a private furnished 1 BR apt in NYC next to the subway. Housing exchanged for a pup, and time w/ the breeder to get familiar w/ history, care, etc.

Crazy huh? I cast my net...

Hmm. Not a bad-looking apartment dog, actually. You probably won't get a choice of hair, though. Small one reminds me of the Jack Russel terrier, only maybe a little bigger (?) Good luck! HPH

Google images gave me nothing . Good luck, Dex. I understand your dismay.

Hmmm. It does look somewhat like a Jack Russel. I've always loved these little guys:

Brussels Griffon

Since they're so small, I'm sure they'd be great in an apt and they appear to be highly intelligent, loving and low maintenance.

I'll let y'all know if this net catches anything.

The only scary thing is if it works out, I may need a car w/ a back seat...

Have you checked the requirements to import a dog? Does it need to spend time in quarantine?

Good point ^^. Our son imported a dog from Germany and since the Germans are more strict on vaccinations, etc. (and more deadly to poorly bred dogs), his dog did not have to be quarantined and we picked it up at the airport in Atlanta as soon as it got into the States. All that was necessary was the animals' vaccination records. I'm appalled at the lack of pet health care that seems to be commonplace among dog owners here in America. Despite all the vaccinations that are available, the only thing required by most localities is the rabies shot. I guess it really is unimportant to municipalities that irresponsible pet owners' dogs get parvo, bordatella, distemper, etc., but those diseases do not pass to humans, only little puppies that are too young to be vaccinated . I read a news report recently that people are taking unvaccinated dogs into the wilderness areas and those same people leave their dogs' feces out in the woods and now wolves are dying from parvovirus which has only recently crossed over into their world. Makes me sad.

Lot's of details to work out if there's a breeder out there interested. I don't want to invest too much energy now until I get a nibble (another heartbreak).

One of 3 Clubs responded and said they want to keep the dogs near (?).
2 more lines in the water...
