Do you think that the folks who put together the web pages, particularly the search engines, for Lowes and Home Depot would know which end of a screwdriver to grab let alone have done any home repairs?
Lowes is by far the worst. You can cut the description of an item from their own web page, paste it into the search engine and they can't find it.
So just forget trying to find something by the manufacturers part number.

and yet google will point you right to it or get you very close....

I have found that to be true of Home Depot as well. We were looking for a storm door a few years ago, and could not find any on their web site. We visited the local store, and there, in stock, was the one we were looking for. I agree:

Not that I know anything about marketing, but I think Lowes and HD do it intentionally. It makes comparison/price shopping more difficult.

I'd love to think it's part of some grand scheme but Hanlon's razor may apply, "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity."

I think Lowe's website is the WORST. Home Depot is a little better, but comparison shopping twixt the two is not easily accomplished. HD is closer to us, so we usually shop there.

You couldn't pay me to buy something from HD; they are on my hate list.

Not our fave either, Dave, but we have few choices. We've been going down to Ace recently for odds n' ends. Fortunately we do not have to shop much anymore.

I had good luck with the Lowes website. I needed a quality shower head hose and Home Depot only had junk. I went to Lowes and it looked like they had a good one by the card's description but it was out of stock. I wrote down the info, found it on their website and ordered it. It's a great hand-held shower head hose and I installed it, myself.

Ditto here Dave. My experience with a pressure washer I purchased was a nightmare. Non-existent Customer Service!!
