Danica
Well it appears that Danica Patrick has signed with JR Racing to drive in the Nationwide Cup series on a limited basis.
Do you think that she'll do okay?
Open wheel drivers have had mixed success in Nascar, (I' thinking Franchitti and Juan Pablo, that's both ends of the driving experience), and I am not sure that she is as good a driver as the ones that have seen success, but that's just my opinion.

She needs to prove herself by winning consistantly in Indy cars before trying stock cars. Maybe she realizes she will never make the grade in Indy cars; if so, the Sprint series will keep the money flowing and the expectations low.
BTW, here's her Andretti linked team web site, which is pretty
No 'hottie' stuff here.

She has never impressed me as exceptional in open wheel.
the only reason I see that she might be any good in bumping and rubbing is she has shown some attitude going after guys...
of course it's easier to do as a chick because you know the guy can't swing back and give you a pop.

She's a marketing cash cow and that's the only reason for the offer

Since the skill set required for the nationwide series is different than the one required for open wheel, only time will tell. While some here may consider her a "second tier" driver she is probably one of the 50 or so best open wheel drivers on the planet, so the girl has some skills. A lot will depend on the quality of the team that works with her.

To me she is a tier 2 driver in open wheel, but the money is in Nascar.
