Default Depressed/Sad?

Stumbled across this website the other day when I was feeling particularly gloomy. Thought maybe I had a bit of Seasonal Affective Disorder and found this. I love the quote by Abe Lincoln "I am now the most miserable man living. If what I feel were equally distributed to the whole human family, there would be not one cheerful face on earth. Whether I shall ever be better, I cannot tell. I awfully forebode I shall not. To remain as I am is impossible. I must die or be better it appears to me."
--Abraham Lincoln

I don't remember reading about his suffering with depression:

I remember reading that Abe Lincoln had suffered severe depression.

Thanks for the reference, Valentine.
Due to a downturn in my spinal situation I have for the first time been experiencing some deep depression, myself. I now have a promising therapist and am trying Wellbutrin as a medical treatment. I read the article and it helps in understanding the phenomenon of depression.
Thanks again.
Jim

Jim I hope you feel better soon. I took Wellbutrin to help get me off cigarettes and it proved to be a good drug.

My dad has been put on Zoloft and it's been two weeks. He's much happier now but it's hard to know if it's due to the Zoloft or that he's recovered from being sick with pneumonia. He's in an Alzheimer's place on Kauai.
