Do I keep it correct?
Our cars are getting older, and it appears they are beginning to become more valuable from a collector standpoint.
Somewhere along the line I smacked some road debris and have a hole in my lower bumper.
Not big, mind you, maybe the size of a dime but there are lines to it about 3 inches long.
Sort of if it hit a piece of rebar.
I checked and it appears we can still get bumpers. Kind of surprising given the age, '02.
It probably needs to be done while I can still get the parts and get it painted.

We have replaced the bumper..2209 I think it was. No issue with matching. We no sooner got it replaced and someone backed into it a NE event while we were at dinner. No issue with paint. Now at age 14, we just had some work done on the vehicle. It was difficult to match as the car had faded. The hood and trunk looked so different from the rest of the car. The body guy had to just keep painting.....came out nice.

Anyone who thinks their S2000 will become a highly sought after collectible is ignoring the facts. They made over 110,000 of them and sold them in 64 countries! Only the rare 2008 S2000CR's production cars designed for the track will likely hold up their value over the others since the production was limited to 1,500. A totally original car is always a good sales pitch when selling the car but that's about all when made in those volumes.
Consider the the MGA which sold over 100,000 between 1956-1962. 60 years later excellent models can be had for $35k, or 14 times the initial purchase price. So if you want to hang on to your collectible till say 2060-70 it might bring $500k. Concours and rare models may bring more. Or maybe a lot less since today's really young people do not hold the affection to cars my generation did. I doubt any of us will be around to know.
